HI,
My 2002 CRV was sideswiped and rear door bashed in by hit and run. I have State Farm insurance with $1000 deductible. I have two repair estimates. The first is for $2700 from a shop I've used before and their work is high quality; it includes a new OEM rear door replacement which State Farm will pay for. The second is for $1700 from a Honda collision repair shop, and includes a "recycled" door replacement, which I assume is a retrieved CRV door from an auto salvage type operation. I can actually take a cash settlement from State Farm for $1700 ($2700-$1000 deductible) and turn around and use that to pay for the repair at Honda, resulting in no cost to me. Or I can get the work done at the first repair shop and pay $1000 out of pocket. Does anyone have any experience with "recycled" body parts and have any observations about using them instead of new OEM? What would you do in this case?
Please help.
I did not find the right solution from the internet.
